Your Weekly Address from the President-elect...

Remarks of President-elect Barack Obama November 15, 2008 Today, the leaders of the G-20 countries -- a group that includes the world's largest economies -- are gathering in Washington to seek solutions to the ongoing turmoil in our financial markets. I'm glad President Bush has initiated this process -- because our global economic crisis requires a coordinated global response. And yet, as we act in concert with other nations, we must also act immediately here at home to address America's own economic crisis. This week, amid continued volatility in our markets, we learned that unemployment insurance claims rose to their highest levels since September 11, 2001. We've lost jobs for ten straight months -- nearly 1.2 million jobs this year, many of them in our struggling auto industry. And millions of our fellow citizens lie awake each night wondering how they're going to pay their bills, stay in their homes, and save for retirement. Make no mistake: this is the greatest economic challenge of our time. And while the road ahead will be long, and the work will be hard, I know that we can steer ourselves out of this crisis -- because here in America we always rise to the moment, no matter how hard. And I am more hopeful than ever before that America will rise once again. But we must act right now. Next week, Congress will meet to address the spreading impact of the economic crisis. I urge them to pass at least a down-payment on a rescue plan that will create jobs, relieve the squeeze on families, and help get the economy growing again. In particular, we cannot afford to delay providing help for the more than one million Americans who will have exhausted their unemployment insurance by the end of this year. If Congress does not pass an immediate plan that gives the economy the boost it needs, I will make it my first order of business as President. Even as we dig ourselves out of this recession, we must also recognize that out of this economic crisis comes an opportunity to create new jobs, strengthen our middle class, and keep our economy competitive in the 21st century. That starts with the kinds of long-term investments that we've neglected for too long. That means putting two million Americans to work rebuilding our crumbling roads, bridges, and schools. It means investing $150 billion to build an American green energy economy that will create five million new jobs, while freeing our nation from the tyranny of foreign oil, and saving our planet for our children. It means making health care affordable for anyone who has it, accessible for anyone who wants it, and reducing costs for small businesses. And it also means giving every child the world-class education they need to compete with any worker, anywhere in the world. Doing all this will require not just new policies, but a new spirit of service and sacrifice, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. If this financial crisis has taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers -- in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people. And that is how we will meet the challenges of our time -- together. Thank you.

Nov 28, 2008 - He's the one who said that his mother had a hard time making ends meet when he was a kid. She must have suddenly came into enough money to send him to Harvard right? Doesn't have anything to do with being racist and as far as being a racist piece of shit, sounds to me like the pot calling the kettle black. You must've gotten a free ride yourself somewhere and it bothers you that anyone would look down on that. I've earned my way through life & it bothers me that others don't.

ryansheckler102 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - That was a very well thought-out,intelligent sounding comment. Too bad you're still an IDIOT! I think that older people have probably been through enough in their lifetime to be able to handle the commments posted. And as far as children, if you don't want them reading other people's honest thoughts maybe you should keep them off the internet. You Liberals all think its ok for everyone to have freedom as long as they play by your rules. Maybe you should stop sucking so much and Shut Up yourself!

ryansheckler102 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Did you really believe everything your messiah spit out at you? You really should do a little research on someone before you vote for them....Lambs to the slaughter.

ryansheckler102 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Oh,I bet that there is someone out there that he pays to do his job for him that is reading these comments. They're just to scared to allow them on they're own channel because they would maybe feel obligated to respond or something. And I would also bet that they are responding on this channel, as a wolf in sheeple's clothing. I've got An Ace in the Hole!

ryansheckler102 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Sounds better than the crap that he's suggesting!

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Exactly how do you feel? Gullible? Naive? Or just Stupid? I feel its a shame that there are so many sheeple following an idiot as their messiah. And it seems like you are so very bitter and clinging to Clinton's funamental ideas.

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Sally Forth! With your New World Order and your Elite Zionist Jews. Mr. Hussein hasn't ever accomplished anything except for getting into office. Yeah, you won big with him! Eat what? Clinton's regurgitated crap? That's okay, I'll pass. Why don't you eat it? Oh wait,(HA, HA!), you already are! Sheeple are on the menu and the Elite are EATING IT up!

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - You've made me feel sooo special!Thank You for taking time out of your busy life to join the ranks of speaking people who listened to what their president ELECT has to say and responded to it. We can (for now anyway), say whatever we want and your liberal mind can't do anything about it! I hope you suffocate on your own bleeding heart while you're choking on Obama's B.S.

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - AMEN!

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Hey! Maybe we'll get new money! Just like when Woodrow Wilson was President! And maybe this time it'll actually be worth something!Hold your breath and count to a million! I'm so excited about all the things that the Messiah will do to us! Sig Heil! A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one. History will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening.

trivialmindz Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - If we lose freedom here, theres no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth. Oh Wait! Iraq is a Democracy now, maybe we can go there!

Nomnithing Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - Well, his new video allows comments...But only if they're approved first. Funny how there isn't anything disagreeable on there. Only hey your great, happy thanksgiving, blah, blah, blah. Nothing real just alot of B.S.

Nov 28, 2008 - Just goes to show that he is more talk than action. Another president that is afraid of listening to the people. It's just that this one will be more embraced because he speaks eloquently. Surely there's more to the quality of a president than an ability to speak...

BlikeNave Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - Well my apologies. You just SEEMED like a racist douche because of your syntax.

BlikeNave Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - The American majority, including myself, did the research; we all agree: Obama > McCain. Sheep or not, our 'messiah' is in office, and THANK a greater being, that yours isn't. :]

trivialmindz Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - What did you research? MSNBC or CNN? I guess you're right the majority of Americans must be morons. They don't have any integrity or morals. A bunch of fat, lazy sheep that are worried about going green and grazing in someone else's pasture. Why should anyone worry about their security? Why should we worry about CHANGE, changing our civil liberties when we can get a stimulus check? Careful what you wish for, when you get it you may not want it anymore. That puppet you worship won't save you.

BlikeNave Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - Your metaphors don't help your case. By calling everyone who doesn't agree with you a "sheep", you don't prove that Obama or his supporters are bad; you just sound like a frustrated, ranting republican. Of course, your response to this, will most likely be like all of your others- some hollow statement ending with a vague analogy that you believe to be effective. Bush messed up BIG time; McCain = Bush. So, I'm not as you said, worried about change- I'm grateful for it. Best of all: no Palin!

Nomnithing Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - And you think Obama=You? You're so sure Obama won't mess up big time? Come on, give him a chance! There's plenty of time. Maybe you'll see that you messed up and will be held accountable for it. Some people want to keep their right to bear arms just in case something goes wrong. Some want to keep their freedom of speech, but you want to be the only one to have a voice. Forced service and sacrifice aren't freedoms. It is called enslavement. What happened to, "We The People?"

trivialmindz Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - What case? Speaking my mind is a case? I see you can speak your mind because you're a liberal? Is that what it means to be a democrat? You can talk and I can't. Gee, that sounds familiar...You=Obama, he doesn't like to hear disagreeable thoughts either. Maybe you can find a way to not allow my comments on yours. Socialism is great! CHANGE, Yes We Will!!! Sig Heil!

BlikeNave Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - "You want to be the only one to have a voice". If that's how I'm coming across, that's not what I'm intending. I think Obama will do better than McCain because of the way I was brought up. For the record, no, I don't think I = Obama. I never said that, nor implied it. You brought up some good points though- some people do want to keep their rights to bear arms, and that's very fair. For me personally though, that's a minor draw back compared to how I look at McCain.

BlikeNave Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Trivial, I never said you couldn't speak your mind- I just feel that when you call me a "sheep", it brings in too many unnecessary emotions that detach your point from it's initial grounding in logic. And I don't think 'I = Obama'; I said Bush = McCain, not Me = Obama. And Trivial, I'm sick of this... trivial youtube debate. You're 36 and I'm 18- so why don't we try and, instead of fighting as republicans against democrats, call a mature truce in this whole thing and just be neutral you-tubers?

trivialmindz Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - I didn't say that you thought you=Obama. I think that you=Obama. And I never said that I voted for Mccain or that he was better than Obama. They're all puppets put into office by zionist jews, they're all corrupt and working on a New World Order, including your precious messiah. The only reason , I ever commented here to begin with is because you people are so blindly entranced by anything he says thats its sickening.

dozerman09 Says:

Dec 6, 2008 - A fake office..Office of the President Elect..how arrogant. Where in the hell do you people that put him in office think where all this money will come from. Oh, beg my pardon, the people that elected him thinks it grows on trees. The new jobs created will go to the OBAMA MONEY FARM to harvest all the new money growing in the orchard. Jimmy Carter Adminstration Revisted..May God have mercy on us all.
